CONCRETE SEALER
PART 1 GENERAL

Data: Submit manufacturer's product
data, including surface preparation and application instructions.
1.4 DELIVERY,
STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's
original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying
product name and manufacturer.
B. Storage:
1. Store materials
in clean, dry area indoors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
2. Do not store
materials above 104 degrees F (40 degrees C) or below 32 degrees F (0 degrees
C).
3. Keep containers
from direct sunlight.
4. Keep containers
sealed until ready for use.
C. Handling: Protect materials during handling and
application to prevent damage or contamination.
1.5 ENVIRONMENTAL
REQUIREMENTS
A. Do
not apply concrete sealer if surface temperature is below 50 degrees F (10
degrees C) or above 86 degrees F (30 degrees C).

2.2 CONCRETE
SEALER
A. Concrete
Sealer: DynaCrete PTS+ Penetrating Top
Seal.
1. Description: Clear, water-based, non-toxic,
non-flammable, odorless, penetrating liquid compound.
2. Specific
Gravity: 1.04.
3. pH (1 percent
solution): 10.85.
4. Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC) Content: 0.
2.3 ACCESSORIES
A. Crack
Repair System: DynaCrete RMO.
B. Penetrating
Internal Membrane: DynaCrete PIM+.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine
concrete surfaces to receive concrete sealer.
Notify Architect if surfaces are not acceptable. Do not begin surface preparation or
application until unacceptable conditions are corrected.
3.2 PROTECTION
OF SURROUNDING AREAS
A. Do
not allow concrete sealer to contact glass, glazed surfaces, or aluminum, as
etching will occur.
B. Use
protective coverings to prevent overspray contact or wind-carried contact with
surrounding surfaces.
3.3 SURFACE
PREPARATION
A. Prepare
concrete surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Repair
and seal cracks with crack repair system in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.
C. Ensure
surfaces are clean, dry, and sound.
D. Remove
dirt, dust, oil, grease, paint, coatings, sealers, laitance, efflorescence, and
other materials that could interfere with performance of concrete sealer.
E. Apply
penetrating internal membrane in accordance with manufacturer's instructions to
new, non-treated concrete surfaces before applying concrete sealer.
3.4 APPLICATION
A. Apply
concrete sealer to concrete surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions at locations indicated on the Drawings.
B. Do
not dilute concrete sealer.
C. Testing
Surfaces: Before application, determine
coverage rate and drying time required for each substrate by testing small
inconspicuous areas of surfaces to receive concrete sealer.
D. Apply
concrete sealer to dry surfaces.
E. Apply
concrete sealer liberally and saturate surfaces. Do not leave puddles.
F. Do
not apply second coat of concrete sealer after first coat has dried.
G. Vertical
Formed Surfaces: Apply concrete sealer
in accordance with manufacturer's instructions as soon as forms have been
stripped and surfaces rubbed, if required.
H. Mortar
Joints: Pre-treat with penetrating
internal membrane the mortar joints to be treated with concrete sealer.
I. Do
not use concrete sealer to fill or seal cracks.
3.5 FIELD
QUALITY CONTROL
A. Manufacturer's
Field Services: Manufacturer's
representative shall provide to applicator technical assistance and guidance
for surface preparation and application of concrete sealer.
B. Application
Report:
1. Applicator
shall maintain records of quantity of concrete sealer used and areas treated.
2. Records shall
verify coverage rate required for each substrate is achieved, as predetermined
by testing.
3. Applicator
shall submit copies of records to Contractor, Architect, and manufacturer.
3.6 PROTECTION
OF WORK AFTER APPLICATION
A. Protect
horizontal surfaces from foot traffic until concrete sealer has cured and
surfaces appear dry.
